Terms of use

Last updated 2026-10-11

The short version: be honest, be specific, be decent, and remember these are opinions from residents.

Using the site

By using Building Review you agree to these terms. You can browse without an account. To post, you need one, and you are responsible for what happens under it, so keep your password private. You must be at least 16.

What you post

You own what you write. By posting it, you give us permission to display it on the site and to keep showing it unless you ask us to remove it, as described in the privacy policy.

Write about your own experience, and keep it honest and specific. Follow the review guidelines: no harassment, no private information about other people, no advertising, and no reviews of buildings you have no connection to. Do not state as fact something you know to be false.

Moderation

Moderators can hide content that breaks these terms or the guidelines, and can restore it if it was hidden by mistake. We do not edit the meaning of a review.

Where the information comes from

Open data. Building registrations, evaluations, permits, bylaw and public health cases, neighbourhood boundaries and nearby amenities come from the City of Toronto’s open data portal. They contain information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Toronto. Average rents come from the CMHC Rental Market Survey, under the Open Government Licence – Canada. Neighbourhood crime figures come from Toronto Police Service open data. Maps use OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Researched by hand. Developer and owner names are not in any open dataset. The few we show were gathered from public web sources, and the source is recorded for each one.

Written by residents. Reviews, ratings, comments, issue reports and suggested edits are written by the people who post them, not by us or by any government.

Opinions and accuracy

Reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not ours. Open data is published by others, can be out of date or incomplete, and is shown as we received it, so a building’s page may not match its current state. Check anything that matters before you buy, rent or sign. This site is not legal, financial or real estate advice, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of Toronto, CMHC or the Toronto Police Service.

No warranty, and limits on our liability

The site is provided as it is, with no promise that it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using it or relying on what is on it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law that cannot be waived.

Abuse of the site

Do not try to break into the site, overload it, scrape it at a rate that harms it, or create accounts to manipulate ratings or votes.

Complaints and takedowns

If a review is false or names you or your property unfairly, use the report button on it, or email privacy@overchurned.com. A moderator will look at it.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms, and will change the date at the top when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
